Autumnal Beauty Edit
We're officially in a new season and my makeup has stayed mostly the same, but I've swapped out a few products. And guys, the weather has finally dropped in California - we even had rain this weekend! For those of you confused about the rain, it's cause California has had one of the worst droughts in years and we. need. rain. I've been on quite a mission to use up more products, which also means consistently swapping out products to get the most use out of more items.
Thanks to the Glossier Supers my skin has been relatively well behaved (aside from a few freakouts from trying to use up too many skincare samples in a short period of time). I've been cutting back on daily cream foundation use and have instead opted for concealer and powder/mineral foundation. As I finally bid adieu to my NARS Creamy Concealer, I decided to pick up a new one that I'd been eyeing for a while, the Tarte Acquacealer Concealer. I've been layering this MAC Powder (discontinued) over the top which I've had for far too long - but I'm happy to say that pan size keeps growing. Seriously hoping to have that used up by the end of 2016. I've been on that highlight bend and that probably (read: definitely) will not end any time soon. As noted in my monthly favorites, I've been loving the Anastasia Sun Dipped Glow Kit - so much so that I've even dedicated a whole post to it here. On days when I've been feeling a bit more low-key and natural, I've been reaching for an old favorite - the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow Palette. I know my skin will soon return to it's cold-weather, pale color so I've slowly been adding a touch of bronzer and a subtle highlight so far different from the "can be seen from space" highlight I've become accustomed to swiping on my face. On even more lazy makeup days I've been using the Glossier Haloscope in Quartz across the tops of my cheeks to add that dewy, fresh-faced look.
I've also been very focused on my brows and although they need a good shaping (like seriously, I just need to call and make an appointment) - I've been paying a whole lot of attention to them. My regular brow person had a baby earlier this year so I've gone through a whole calendar of shitty eyebrows. I always end up getting someone that takes off too much from the bottom of one, or leaves them looking more like distant cousins rather than sisters. I've continued reaching for my Anastasia Brow Powder Duo and have started using this Benefit Gimme Brow that I got as a BI reward from Sephora. On the eyes I'm still rocking a cat eye on the daily with my KVD Trooper Liner. (I caved and went back to it b/c I felt so guilty for using a non-Cruelty Free item). This pen has been so much better and I haven't had issues with it being streaky/uneven - hopefully it stays this way! And lastly is the Maybelline Lash Sensational which I actually have missed a bit. During the colder months I don't mind having heavier eye makeup as it just seems more fitting. I wanted to try the regular formula as the waterproof version is a bit of a bitch to take off - and I'm happy to say that this one does hold a curl! Although it does straighten out a bit, it still holds my lashes up with a slight curl rather than pointing straight down.
What products have you been using on rotation lately? Did you swap any products out for this new season?
