Try Before You Buy | Tatcha Brand Focus

A long time ago I did a 'Try Before You Buy' post. Although that was more for free samples I received, I thought it worked pretty well with these Tatcha minis that I've (mostly) loaded up on during Black Friday / Cyber Monday. Tatcha is a brand that I've been quite curious to try for some time now, but sadly it also comes with quite a steep price tag. I knew after reading numerous reviews and raves over the products that I needed to give them a try for myself. I couldn't muster up the courage to try out the full-size products of everything, but I did walk away with a full size of the Luminous Dewy Skin Mist and Pore Perfecting Minimizing Gel during the Sephora sales last month (haul here).

I've been minorly obsessed with one particular Instagram account lately, and that belongs to Adri - check her out at @SortOfObsessed! Adri has the most incredible skincare collection and genuinely has a full on routine both morning and night. She's had a few Tatcha products in the midst of her skincare routine for a while that I've been wanting to try, including the Luminous Dewy Skin Mist, Camelia Cleansing Oil, and Pore Perfecting Sunscreen.

As noted in my morning skincare post yesterday (read here) I mentioned that I always try to use sunscreen - SPF protection is important everyone! I had been wanting to pick up the Tatcha Pore Perfecting Sunscreen (w/ SPF35) but my eyes watered at the price. I'm also pretty sensitive to skincare products and always want to try products out before committing to them. I've used this a few times and love how this actually serves as a good primer for my makeup. I'll pair this with a lighter moisturizer and apply this after the moisturizer has had good time to sink in. I'm super glad this one is tiny as it'll make the perfect size to take whilst traveling!

In addition I've been needing a new mini hand cream to carry around with me in my bags. I re-ordered a new mini Caudalie Hand & Nail Cream so I'll be able to toss that in to my bag soon. But I'd seen the Tatcha Indigo Soothing Silk Hand Cream on the Sephora website for a while and had been wanting to give it a try, but unfortunately Sephora does not have the whole travel-size range available so I pushed that back on my list of things to get. But when Tatcha had their own Cyber Monday sale, and the full range of products in mini form available, I thought it be the perfect time to pick up the hand cream to trial. I was a bit disappointed in the size when it arrived as you can probably see from my photos that it's pretty tiny. For a hand cream I'm a bit meh as it's something I could go through extremely quickly, and for the price it's a bit hefty. I'm still trying to finish up some other hand creams I have open so I'll ponder on this one - I may want to return this one :(

The Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder is something I've had for quite a while now - I go in waves of liking this and not liking this. I like that it's a gentle exfoliator and goes unscented. The one thing I'm not a huge fan of is the dispense system. I'm really finicky when it comes to my product packaging and hate when things start to get grimy and dirty. There's a little slit that opens and closes so product only comes out when you want it to (which I appreciate), but you have to pour the product out onto your hand, add the tiniest amount of product, and turn into a paste. This could be fine but sometimes I want to add just a bit more powder / water and sometimes it gets a bit messy. I will give it brownie points because it's so easy to travel with - no worries about carrying liquids can just be chucked in with the rest of your makeup with no worry that it will spill and leak over anything.

The Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil is one that I'd been wanting to try. After giving cleansing gels a go this year (namely, Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel), I was quite interested in giving cleansing oils a try. I had used a sachet of this during my massive #OctoberSampleChallenge purge (here) and really liked using it. It was gentle, unscented, and got the job done. I picked up this mini one which I've been trying to hold back on using as it's also pretty small. I have allowed myself to take it with me on travels for a little treat!

Last but not least is the Luminous Dewy Skin Mist. Did you guys think I'd do a mini travel-size haul and not pick up my new favorite product in travel size? (If not - who do you think I am??) Real talk, I'm excited to have this mini in my stash - I will take it with me on all my travels. Heck, maybe I'll just leave it in my bag or at my desk at work. Also, price wise this mini version isn't all too shabby. This one retails for $15 for 12oz. while the full-size retails for $48 at 40 oz - you're just getting a bit more in the full size/price, but if you're hesitant on dropping $$$ I'd say get the mini! (Although really girl, it's worth.) Treat yo'self.

Overall I gotta say I'm really excited that this brand does such a standup job in the skincare department. I'm also doubly excited because I have a few trips coming up and I'll have all these products to take with me!

Do you love buying minis to take on a trial run? What are your favorite minis to buy?

(Hint Hint - I have a big giveaway coming up soon and a few little gems from this roundup will be in there - and don't worry, the giveaway will include brand spanking new ones.)
