Barely There Makeup For Summer
I'm on a mission to use more of my makeup stash and finish up some products to clear up space. My skin has been pretty agreeable with me lately and I've been skipping out on liquid and cream foundations and opting for powder. In an effort to use up one that I am nearly finished with, I reached for my Bare Minerals Original Foundation (in Light). Another few weeks and I should be done with this! Bare Minerals was a makeup brand that I first started off with and used their starter kit when I was in high school. It gives a natural finish, allows your skin to breathe, and is extremely easy to use. I apply a layer of the Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base (in Nude Radiance No. 01) which is amazing - I've almost convinced myself to purchase the full size product once this deluxe sample size is done with. This paired with any foundation, no matter the formula/finish, has helped give that effortless lit from within glow. The best part is that it is made without parabens & sulfates which means it meshes well with my skin, and it doesn't break out my skin. Win-Win all around.
On the eyes I've been super simple and smudging a dark brown eyeliner into my lash line. I'm still on an eyeliner ban and am making my way through my mega stash of half finished liners. I'm currently alternating between my 24/7 Glide-On Pencil in Demolition and a Bare Minerals liner which has since been discontinued (I have 3 pencils of these to get through...). My KVD Trooper Liner is on its last legs so I'm debating if I should go back and get another or if I should just revert back to gel liners in an effort to use up more items. I never skip curling my lashes and I can always trust on my trusty Kevyn Aucoin Eyelash Curler. I'm working through my large amount of sample mascaras and am giving them the toss after a few weeks. Unfortunately all of the sample mascaras are not waterproof so they do tend to droop down without holding a curl, although I'm not too bothered by it nowadays. Removing makeup is much more of a breeze and it feels good to give my lashes a break for a change. To balance out my simpler eyes I've been filling in a bolder brow. I recently got my brows done since the Benefit Brow Bar at Macy's gives you a free brow wax the week of your birthday (I don't say no to birthday freebies). Since they're shaped I can easily fill in my brows for a soft, yet bold, look with the Anastasia Brow Powder Duo.
I've been skipping out on blush and adding on a touch of highlight to give a natural dewy glow. My boyfriend was actually staring at my face the other day and asked if I was hot because it looked like I was sweating. He slowly inched closer and asked if I had glitter on my face to which I responded and pointed at my cheekbones saying 'This. Is. Highlight.' This conversation was following our little chat about his thoughts on the purpose of makeup items - see what he thought highlighter was for here. I recently picked up a miniature size of the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Opal. Initially when I purchased a full size I had debated between Opal and Moonstone, and ended up choosing Moonstone. As I'm rather pale I think Moonstone, a pale gold, was the better choice for me as a full-size product as I can see myself getting a ton of use out of it year round. But Opal, a golden opal pearl, has a touch more warmth and adds a nice soft glow which is perfect for Summer. If you can get your hands on a smaller size, I highly recommend it! A little goes a long way.
