Makeup Shakeup | Fall 2017
Fall is officially here and I'm readdddy. In the summer months I always get so lazy about wearing makeup - partially cause of the heat, partially cause I just feel more laid back. Once the weather starts to cool down I like to spend a little bit more time on my makeup. I'm still trying to figure out exactly where I'll do my makeup in the new apartment, but that didn't stop me from figuring out which products I'd be reaching for. As I'm trying to be more conscientious of what I buy (or don't buy), I went sifting through my already substantial makeup collection. Keep reading to see what I'll be shaking up in my makeup routine.
My all time favorite foundation is the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. I got this last year during the Sephora VIB sale and I think I'm nearing the halfway point in the bottle. This might seem slow to others, but having only finished one other foundation before this is definitely a good sign for me. A lot of the time I don't like to wear foundation - especially since my skin has been looking super good these past few months. I've been going in with the Glossier Stretch Concealer which gives a light wash of color to help cancel out any redness in my skin. I did add in the MILK Makeup Flex Concealer which I like to dab on over peskier spots that are angry and red {not photographed}.
I tend to get extremely pale during the cooler seasons so I like to use what I can to add additional dimension to my face. I usually go about this by using highlighters and blush. On the highlight side I have the Marc Jacobs Coconut Dew Drops* which I tend to apply to my entire face as it gives a light glow over your skin! I've been reaching for my BECCA highlight in Opal throughout the entirety of Spring/Summer as I think it compliments the somewhat tanner skin I had. I'm whipping out BECCA Moonstone as it looks so good on my skin when it pales out in the cooler seasons. (Sephora now carries Opal + Moonstone in mini sizes which I think is the perfect size for those that like variety!) The Glossier Haloscopes are perfect for those lightweight makeup days to just add a touch of glow to the tops of my cheeks and down the bridge of my nose. I dabble between Quartz + Moonstone as they compliment my skin so well without being over the top. I also like to go in with a blush of some sort to add a bit of a natural flush to my skin. The BECCA blush in Wild Honey is still standing strong as my fav - it's a peachy nude that looks so natural on my skin and the teeniest bit of product goes a long way.
I say this all the time, but one thing I want to challenge myself to do more is experiment with my eye makeup. A classic cat-eye is my typical go-to look so of course I had to include the KVD Tattoo Liner in the mix - it's a safe option and it pairs beautifully with a bold vampy lipstick. To brighten up the eyes, I am trying to use the Burberry Fresh Glow - Highlighting Luminous Pen*. This can be used to brighten your entire face - cheeks, nose, lips, etc., but I love the small size as it's the perfect size to get into the inner corner of the eyes. I like to use cream eyeshadows and smoke them out as it's quick and easy to do - one of my favorites is the Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerize in Marie Antoinette. I'm all about the one wash shades and the Burberry eyeshadow in Pale Barley is also great as an all over lid color. *I recently went shopping with my mom and she treated me to the Charlotte Tilbury Chameleon Eye Pencil in Amber Haze + the Instant Look in a Palette :B These have been on my wish list for the longest time and I'm excited to work them into my routine too.
To top off the entire look, the Anastasia Beverly Hills brow powder duo is a quick and easy option. I discovered that I much prefer using a powder to do my brows than I do using a pencil. I find it to be much quicker and cheaper in the long run, as a little goes a long way and I don't have to go through multiple pencils. A quick brush through afterwards with the Glossier Boy Brow is enough to finish the look.
What are some of your favorite makeup pieces to rotate in once the weather cools down and the seasons change?
