Take 5 | New Additions to the Skincare Lineup
My goal is definitely to use up more products - if they don’t make the cut they immediately go in the friends & fam bag which will find its way to a new home ASAP. With my new skincare cabinet storage I’m able to group everything by category which makes it very easy when I’m in need of a new skincare product in a designated category. I am trying my best to be more ruthless about getting rid of products that go unloved/unused in my cabinet. I've been much better about rotating through products and here are some that are currently up on my lineup.
As I finished up my REN Evercalm Gentle Cleansing Milk, I needed to add a new one to the mix. I thought the French Girl Organics Cleanser was perfect to sit on my bathroom counter. I’m a bit clumsy and often drop bottles in the shower, so I figure if I dropped this bottle it would shatter and water + broken glass does not sound like the business. I’ve been using this for the last few weeks and have noticed my skin feels clean, hydrated, and plump after use. With ingredients like active charcoal, hyaluronic oil, and rosehip oil, this definitely helps pull impurities and dirt from my skin but leaves my skin supple and soft. I have a feeling this one will be a favorite and probably a repurchase down the line - maybe even in the full size!
I’m currently testing two sunscreens - one from Anessa which I picked up in Japan, and one from Supergoop. The Anessa sunscreen is the #1 coveted sunscreen in Asia so of course I had to try it. I actually really love the consistency and how it feels almost mattifying oh my skin. But never dries my skin out. It’s odd but nice! They’re a branch off of Shiseido, whose sunscreen I did use for a good few years, so it’s no surprise that I’m a fan of this one. The other one is the City Sunscreen Serum* from Supergoop. This was my first time trying anything from the brand so I was definitely excited. Unfortunately I think because I’ve been using a lot of sunscreens without the sunscreen scent, this one definitely threw me for a curveball. It was a scent I hadn’t smelled in a while and I was unpleasantly surprised with it. However, after using it for a few days I did get used to it. Oddly this one says it’s a serum but I don’t really find it to be a serum consistency. Yes, it’s more runny than your typical sunscreen, but I still find it to be heavier than a serum consistency as you really need to work it in. I haven’t taken any photos while using this so I can’t comment on the dreaded white face - but I don’t think that happens with this one.
Something new on my radar is the Lierac Paris line. I’ve been testing the Hydrogenist Moisturizing Cream (Oxygenating & Re-plumping) which smells in-cred-i-bleeee. It’s a bit of a runny and goopy consistency and can be a bit messy to work with soI often use a spatula to get product out of this. I usually do a body test when testing moisturizers as I’d much rather get a rash on my legs than my face. This one definitely passes the test of moisture as I have pretty dry/scaly skin (TMI?) on my legs and this one quickly sinks in and leaves my skin looking and feeling soft through morning time. I started using this on my face and neck and have been waking up with baby soft skin. I’m definitely impressed with this dreamboat of a product.
One product I’ve been on the hunt for for a while has to be eye creams. After falling out of love with the Kiehl’s creamy avocado eye treatment, it’s been quite a mission to find one I truly love. I’ve been using the Primrose Eye Cream from Georgette Klinger and I’m a bit indifferent to it. I love that it’s in a pump so I don’t have to scoop my finger into a jar. It’s unscented and a good consistency that doesn’t take forever to sink into my skin. I’m not sure it’s really making a big difference but I mostly just think that it’s preventive. I did recently pick up the Youth to the People Eye Cream in my Sephora VIB Haul (post here) which I think I enjoy using more! So I'll give this one a few more tries and then I might pass this one off.
We’ll see how these ones fare over the next month and if they’ll see the light of day again in an empties post or if they’ll be headed towards the F&F bag ! What are some products that you’ve recently introduced into your routine? Have you tried any of these?
