The Skincare Edit | Updated Routine feat. New Products
So if you've been a long time reader of mine, you know that I am quite the creature of habit when it comes to using products. I've been following a ton of skincare IG accounts over the past few months and I've grown quite a list of products that I've been wanting to try. I'm typically not one to buy items full price so I waited until products came under sale or when a company had a promotion of some sort. I powered through a lot of my products and ended up finishing a bunch up at the same time, which meant I was able to crack open all these new little babies.
Now introducing new skincare products to your routine is always a bit scary as you never quite know how your skin is going to react. I did introduce products slowly, one at a time, as to not make my skin freak out.
Cleanser wise I've finished up a bunch that I was working through, so I've started using this REN Evercalm Gentle Cleansing Milk which I use in the morning. I like that it has a pump which is why I specifically kept it at my sink as it's easiest to use with little fuss for sleepy ol' me. I did a little Anthropologie Beauty haul recently (post coming soon) and picked up some a few other beauty bits, including 2 face washes :B I have a Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser backup ready to go and am holding out just a bit longer before I crack it open (because we all know once it's opened, that's all I'm going to want to use). I've finished up all my Glossier Supers (cries rivers) and have been reaching for the Kypris Antioxidant Dew both morning and night. I really like it so far as it's extremely lightweight and easy to layer with other serums. I was pairing it with my Glossier Super Bounce serum for a good while and I loved the two layered together. I recently picked up the Kypris Midnight Catalyst and am patiently waiting to see some glowing results.
To be fair, I've been using the Glossier Priming Moisturizer Rich since January and my skin has never been better. It has helped my skin through the cold Winter season and it keeps my skin so soft and hydrated - like baby soft to the point that I kept making my bf touch my face. You can pick up your own PMR through my Glossier link glossier.com/reps/cindy (+ save 10% off if it's your first order!). Or if you make any purchase right now, you can opt to try a sample of the regular priming moisturizer or priming moisturizer rich. In my recent Cult Beauty/Ulta haul (here), I picked up the Mario Badescu Neck Cream. Now in addition to being on a regular workout schedule and being more fit/healthy, I think this has helped smooth the skin on my neck ever so slightly. It's not a miracle cream at all, but it's definitely been doing a little somethin' somethin' for my neck in terms of smoothness and appearance. It's quite a heavy cream so a little goes a long way and for the cost of this jar I think it's great if you're interested in trying one out.
Namely in the mornings I've been reaching for two products from Missha where I did another little haul (another haul post to come - lol). I've been in need of a new sunscreen, especially because I sit next to a window in open concept in my office. I noticed little freckles appearing on my hand and more on my cheeks so I thought it was imperative to start loading up on the sunscreen because I'll admit that I've been a little careless about this aspect about my morning skincare for a while. I was drawn to this one because everyone and their mom was posting about it in the IG Skincare world and the fact that it didn't leave a white cast (and came in cute packaging) - I was sold. I opted for the All Around Safe Block Essence as it's ideal for those who spend some time outside and border on dry skin - they also have versions that are waterproof, for oily skin, etc. It has a very light scent, very typical of most Asian skincare products I've tried, and doesn't smell overly sun-screeny (like Coppertone/Neutrogena and the sorts). I also don't think this one breaks the bank as it is just under $15! Missha has a promo going right now where new members will receive a full size sample of the M B.B. Boomer with any order over $40 (which is also the minimum for free shipping). It's a primer meant to go under BB creams but I personally wear it on its own (over my moisturizer/sunscreen) and maybe even under a little bit of concealer. It gives that glowing from within look to your skin and I think it's bound to be perfect for Spring/Summer wear. It does have a slightly baby-powdery scent to it at first which some have mentioned bothers them, but the smell fades shortly after so if you can tough it out for the results I recommend it. BTW - Missha US is having 30% off for Friends & Family sale right now so you can snag the sunscreen and any other products for an absolute steal right now!
Sorry I haven't been posting a lot lately guys, there's some things going on in my family right now that I'm not quite ready to share yet, and I'm doing crazy OT hours at work right now. The work part should end in about a week or so, so *hopefully* I'll be able to get back to some sort of a regular posting schedule. I really really do miss creating content and I have a lot of exciting brands that have reached out to me recently! I'm working hard on testing everything out for ya guys.
How have you all been?? What are some of your favorite skincare products right now, have you guys tried any of these?
