Chapped Winter Lip Saviors for Kiss-able Lips
Whether you’re smooching or not, dry chapped lips are not cute. I’ll admit - my lips tend to err on the drier side but I’m trying my best to keep my lips in tip-top shape. When your lips are dry it’s no fun wearing lipstick as every single crack shows, but on top of that you might be a little self-conscious about smooching your loved ones.
So as someone with chronically dry chapped lips, I thought I’d share some of the products I like to reach for that have helped a lot with the appearance of my lips.
Fresh Beauty Sugar Lip Wonder Drops :: This had been on my list for ages and I finally picked it up during the Sephora VIB sale a few months back. This literally takes one teeny drop to leave your lips feeling soft and plump. I’ve been using this day and night for the last week and my lips could not be happier. I find my lips to have less dry cracked bits which makes any lip balm I use have an easier job, plus it leaves a nice smooth canvas for any lip products.
French Girl Organics Lip Scrub :: Once a week I’ll go in with a lip scrub. I’ll usually apply this over my lips and then work on taking my eye makeup off before jumping in the shower. I find rinsing this off there is a little bit less messy! This in conjunction with the sugar lip drops above are working quite well. I’ve previously had the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment which was nice, but I like the FGO a bit more because it’s a bit more gritty while the Fresh option is a bit finer.
Patchology Lip Masks :: You guys probably know that eye gels are my absolute favorite type of “mask.” So when Patchology sent me their lip masks, I was so excited to give them a try. I don’t reach for these as often as I should, but these are quite a treat. I like that these are available in a jar for regular use, but also individualized packs for taking on trips. I typically like to gift these to friends as well - especially my friends for special occasions (aka before special events / weddings). I also tend to take a travel lip mask with me when I travel because you never know what condition your lips will be in after flying / change in climate, etc.
ohii Beauty Lip Jelly * :: For those of you who don’t know, ohii beauty is Urban Outfitters Beauty’s new in-house brand. UO (c/o Ella) Kindly gifted me some new products from the range to try out - and my favorite of the bunch has to be these lip jellies. I have two scents, Rose and Mint - Rose is definitely my favorite of the two I have. I took this to NY and was constantly reapplying it and it kept my lips from being chapped from the cold.
BKR Water Balm * :: A few months back, BKR was kind enough to send me their newest launch - a balm that can pop onto the top of their BKR bottle cap. Although BKR is a small company, I love that they take the time to really speak with their influencers and get to know them. I was lucky enough to chat over the phone with one of the founders and even got to meet the BKR team at their holiday party a few weeks back. The water balm is a lovely product and I love the innovativeness of the product being able to snap into the lid of your bottle so you don’t need to carry a balm around in addition. However one concern I did express to the team was that I’m not a fan of dipping my germy finger into a pot type balm while I’m out - especially at work where I touch communal printers, staplers, etc. Luckily the balm does pop off so I can just leave it on my desk at home / throw it in my overnight bag when I travel. Recently they brought out two new shades of their Water Balm (which applies clear) and I’m so excited for it. Out of the two, Muse is looking up to being my favorite as it adds the lightest mauve/berry tinge which has always been a favorite hue of mine.
Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask * :: The Laneige is a cult favorite and for good reason. I like to use this one at night as it truly lasts overnight and is one I can still feel on my lips in the morning when I wake up. This little pot is taking me ages to get through and I haven’t even scraped the entire top layer of this jar. They’ve brought out a range of flavors and I’m so tempted to try them, but that is just not reasonable seeing how long this current jar is taking me to get through. I do wish this also came in a tube applicator so I could use this on the go as I don’t love to dip my fingers into jar type products when I’m out and about.
Tatcha Kissu Lip Mask * :: I have been using this religiously since I got it a few weeks back and add a teeny application each morning. Nowadays I use this after I apply the Fresh sugar drops for lasting moisture and a touch of gloss. This one is unscented and is a great alternative to the Laneige one above that is scented (for any of you that are sensitive to scents). I do find it a lot more glossy than the Laneige one which is why I opt for it in the AM since I find it to be great for day-time use in lieu of an actual gloss.
Patchology Lip Service Gloss-To-Balm Treatment * :: So speaking of products I want to use on the go, the Patchology one is one that definitely comes to mind. It applies like a gloss but lasts like a balm and is so comfortable on the lips. It has a faint taste of some sort of candy that I remember as a child and it’s somewhat nostalgic and I enjoy it. I’m about 1/3 of the way through with this (although looking at the photo it looks about 1/2 way through) and I definitely think I’ll repurchase this when I run out.
