New Everyday Winter Lipsticks

One of my beauty weaknesses has to be lipsticks. For a long while, I avoided buying new lip products cause they were honestly just one thing I didn’t reach for. Partially because my lips are always so dry and chapped, I don’t want to aggravate them more. Recently I’ve been working on taking better care of my lips, and I think I’m just about there. I’m slowly trying to incorporate more lip products back into my makeup routine so I thought I’d share some of the products I’ve been reaching for - a lot of new ones, and one oldie but goodie.

  • Em Cosmetics True Gloss in Caramel Glaze * :: This is a sheer brown which gives a touch of warmth to the lips. I don’t find this to look muddy at all, but it just gives my lips an even better MLBB (my lips but better) hue. This was my first product from Em Cosmetics and I’m actually quite impressed. Glosses these days are quite good and aren’t uncomfortable or tacky, they’re smooth and feel extremely comfortable on your lips. I’m always a bit weary about colored glosses but this one is a nice neutral that adds a bit of life to an otherwise dull complexion lol.

  • MAC Cosmetics Powder Kiss Lipstick in Impulsive :: It’s been a hot minute since I’ve purposefully went out and bought a MAC lipstick. I don’t think I’ve actually went out and bought one since I first started blogging back in 2015. The last one I added prior to that was Del Rio (more on that later). When Glossier updated their Gen Gs and changed the formula and shade of everyone’s beloved Leo, everyone started looking for dupes of the old favorite. Jina of @radiant_jungle had posted that this one was a close enough dupe and after seeing how beautiful it looked, I decided to pick it up when I was at Nordstrom last weekend for an event. My mom had re-stocked on some eyeshadows when I found out they were having 15% off, so I knew it was kismet that I picked the lipstick up too. It is the most beautiful neutral light brown hue that can be worn day-to-day with little thought. This is probably one of the most interesting and confusing formulas as it is matte but hydrating. Yes - hydrating. It applies like a satin lipstick but dries down matte for long lasting wear. I’ve worn it a few times since I got it and it lasts pretty well! I can usually make it up to lunch with no touchups - which means it survives my morning coffee and maybe a bagel/donut if the day fits. I usually just wipe it off when I’m eating lunch so I don’t have to worry about it, but might re-apply it after lunch or before I head over to a client site for work. Ok let me stop going on about this because clearly - I’m obsessed.

  • Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Birkin Brown :: The CT Matte Revolution lipsticks are one of my hands down favorite lipstick formulas. Two of my all time favorite shades come from this range as well (Very Victoria and Bond Girl if you were wondering). These are similar to the Powder Kiss formula above as they are matte but comfortable to wear on the lips. A while back, I started filling @__rodee on IG and was obsessed with pretty much all of her lipstick options. I had already been contemplating Birkin Brown and when I saw Rodee use them, I knew I needed to add it to my collection. Birkin Brown is described as a soft chocolate brown, and as you can see, it almost looks like a berry-brown hue - love.

  • Guerlain KissKiss Matte Lipstick in Crazy Nude * :: I received this via Octoly and was a bit confused when I got the lipstick. I had tried researching some swatches but I didn’t recall it being so rosy-hued. It is still neutral so I’ll still reach for it (although I am eyeing up Caliente Beige bc based on the above, I clearly have a type right now). The packaging is lightweight but feels sturdy, and I’m almost fearful of throwing it in my purse because I don’t want the casing to get scratched. It’s fun and unique and this is now my second Guerlain lipstick and I love how luxurious they are. This one is matte but isn’t overly drying, I like to pat it into my lips for a sheer amount of added color.

  • Dior Lip Glow in Berry :: The Dior Lip Glows are some of my guiltiest pleasures. I love myself a nice berry hue lip color and while the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Plum was my all time favorite, it’s been discontinued and I find myself looking for alternatives. The Dior lip glow in berry isn’t a perfect dupe, but it’s hydrating and gives a nice berry tint. I had the original Pink Glow Lip Glow and loved it, and I had almost finished it but didn’t want to be without it so I held onto it (lol). It’s a bit old now so I think I should just toss it since I ended up getting this new Lip Glow in Berry (and Lilac - but I really only wear that around summer seasons).

  • MAC Lipstick in Del Rio :: As mentioned above, one of the last MAC lipsticks I picked up prior to Impulsive was Del Rio, which is part of their satin lipstick family. It’s described as a warm plum and you guys know I love my berry hues. I loved how deep this one was and as you can tell, I like applying sheer layers of color to my lips. I always love the look of vampy lips so this one was a good middle ground lipstick for getting a sheer swipe of color or a deep fuller look.

And that’s it for this little lipstick update! What are some of your favorite shades to wear? Do you tend to gravitate towards certain shades during certain seasons? Or do you wear your lip products year round?
