Life Lately and Plans for CHY in 2019

[Per usual, I’ve drafted a post but never finalized it for posting.

But here it is - better late than never!]

As 2018 closes, I’ve been reflecting a lot about what I want to do with this space in 2019. I definitely neglected this space a lot in 2017 and 2018 and I’m hoping to fall back in love a bit with blogging. As much as I love Instagram and the instant response of likes/comments, there’s something a little bit more intimate and vulnerable about pouring out words over here on the blog. I think that it is definitely a bit more a visual diary and I enjoy going back to old posts and

1. seeing how my photography and editing has changed over the years

2. how much I, along with my writing style, have changed

The other day I was talking to T, my boyfriend (or I guess I should say fiancé now!!), about my blog and he made a comment that he doesn’t really think I’m as funny as I used to be on here (ouch). I only told my parents about my blog at the end of 2017 (mostly because I saw some income from this space and had to tell my dad about my income from it for tax purposes) and thus, my mom found my blog sometime in 2018 (hi, mom). I think as a kid I hid a lot from my parents, and even as an adult I continue to keep a lot from them. It’s not because I don’t want to share things with them, but they have vastly different beliefs and values than I do - and we definitely do not see eye-to-eye on a lot. Maybe after realizing my mom was reading this, I changed the way I wrote because I wanted to make it more presentable for her eyes.

I don’t really have too many New Year’s resolutions, but I do want to try my best to be more true to who I am (and who I want to be). I don’t want to put on a facade of someone that I’m pretending to be to please anybody, but to just be who I am and those who are around me can accept me as I am or not - plain and simple.

My number one resolution for the year is to read more books. I gave myself a goal to read 1 book per month, 12 books total. Depending how that goes, I might increase it throughout the year. (Update - It’s almost the end of February and I’ve read one book, but still haven’t finished it lol.)

For those of you that don’t follow me on Instagram, I did post in my stories that I got engaged at the end of December! T and I have been together for about 5 1/2 years so we’re excited to take this next step together and officially become one (although tbh, we’ve been acting like a married couple for years). I know wedding planning can bring out the worst in people and I just hope that everyone can be civil and make it through it without any arguing. I really think that the wedding should be for the bride and groom and nobody else. It should be where they want, with who they want, and any little things in-between should be along their ideals as well. Opinions can be shared, but offense should not be taken if those opinions are not heavily weighed or are disregarded.

T and I are aiming for a Fall wedding and with most venues being booked up for all of October already, we’re gonna be scuffling for a venue ASAP. I have a few places in mind, but we need to schedule some appointments to visit. I’m sure some of my content will lean towards wedding related matters, but we’ll see how that goes! // EDIT : Since drafting this post, T and I have put a deposit on a venue and we have our date secured! I have a few other main checklist items to do, but fingers crossed that everything will go smooth. Commence healthy lifestyle and exercising so that T and I can look our best 😂

One of my goals for 2019 is to pick back up bullet journaling. I had been avidly using mine in 2017 and then stopped. I thought with our wedding this year it’d probably be in my best interest to be as organized as possible. And in general I want to spend less time on electronic devices (phone, laptop, TV), and read more and just do more things that don’t require a device (maybe Kindle aside if I ever decide to get/use one). I’ve been having a field day pinning mood boards and ideas for the bujos. I’ll admit that I’m not the most creative when it comes to doodles and sketches, but I do like taking inspiration from others while I get in the habit of sketching more. I’m going to try to be better about documenting my spreads, what works best for me, as well as any stationary tools that I find are the easiest. If there’s anything you want to know more of about bujos, please do let me know! I’ve been keeping this up so that’s pretty exciting! I probably and just gonna skip over the month of March as it’s usually the busiest for me work wise and I definitely have some news for updates at my 8-5 day job, but I’ll save that for another life lately update in the future.

I have a few posts queued up so hopefully I’ll be more active soon! I just wanted to crank this out since it’s been in the queue for a while and I thought it’d be a nice quick hello - I’m still here - and I’m sorry for not posting lately. Hope you have all been well!! Please leave a comment and say hI! ❤️
