SLOCal Diaries | San Luis Creek Lodge

I recently started following Jessica from @bontraveler who is a travel (obviously by her blog name haha) based out of Northern California. With COVID, most of her recent travels have been local which is perfect for me. T and I are big homebodies but I often get an itch to see new places. Her recent travels to the Central Coast instantly gave me inspiration to book a trip of my own. T and I have been very conservative with COVID and haven’t eaten out at a restaurant in over 7 months. We were a bit nervous about traveling but ended up opting for this socially distanced getaway for a few nights. One of the hotel inspirations for this trip was definitely this gorgeous hotel in SLO (San Luis Obispo).

We stayed at the San Luis Creek Lodge which was recently renovated to this beautiful beachy farmhouse aesthetic. The great thing was that it was dog friendly so Ollie was allowed to go on the trip. And the extra added perk was that their amenities were Aesop! I almost wish they were minis, but I do think this is more eco friendly and keeps costs down lol.

If any of you are considering staying here, they are handling COVID quite well. The front desk is still open and operational and all workers are wearing masks. Check in was quick and they had 2 separate jars for pens - one new/cleaned and one for used pens. With a little jar of sanitizer in the center. They did note that housekeeping would not be provided unless requested, which made us feel better that nobody would be walking around with our stuff there.

Generally they offer a continental breakfast but due to COVID they did not open their main lobby/eating area. Instead, they drop off a thermos of coffee along with fresh pastries for you to safely enjoy in your room. The breakfast is supposed to come in a custom tote (with the hotel’s branding on it), but ours came in a plastic bag each day. When checking out I did ask if they had one I could have and they did ☺️ (I love a free tote lol).

Hopefully one day we’ll all be able to travel freely again with limited restrictions. But until then, local day trips or quick weekend getaways will be our way to keep us sane during these crazy times.

If you’re from the Bay Area, let me know your favorite day trip or local weekend destinations!
