Otherland Candles and a Discount
In the last 10 years I’ve become quite the candle snob. I’ll pick up and sniff candles at Target but rarely do I actually purchase any. The cheapest candles I ever pick up are from IKEA and I almost always instantly regret that choice and have held off for quite some years. I enjoy burning candles but find I don’t go through them all too quickly, so I validate my ever-growing collection. It’s pretty clear that one brand has taken the lead in my candle collection and that’s Otherland.
A few years back, candles were a foreign concept to me and I didn’t completely understand the hype around them. I didn’t really know much about candles and in general I just bought anything that smelled good - often regretting my decision at how badly it smelled when it burned, the black wall of smoke it left behind, and how my candles always seemed to dreadfully tunnel. Thankfully my taste and knowledge in candles has significantly matured (lol) and I’m a huge candle enthusiast. It also helps that T also loves burning candles. In general I try to buy candles that burn a bit cleaner, leaning heavily towards soy waxes. Otherland in particular uses a custom blend of coconut and soy wax, with a 100% cotton wick for a smooth burn! I love that they focus on cleaner ingredients, which is why their candles don’t have paragons, sulfates, and phthalates - and on top of that they are cruelty free!
A random story time! I used to be terrified of using matches and lighters until sometime in college lol. The idea of flicking a lighter scared the crap out of me and matches always seemed to burn up too quickly before I could anything lit (birthday cakes in particular). These days I’m definitely not as terrified and I actually love collecting matchbooks! So I’m extra excited that Otherland comes with a matchbook with each order.
I think it’s been about 2 years since I picked up my first Otherland candles, and I’m still so in love. I’ve acquired quite a few candles from them (can you tell?) and I don’t see the obsession ending anytime soon. Otherland has 5 core scents: Rattan (Sandalwood), Canopy (California Fig), Chandelier (Champagne), Daybed (Rosebud), and Kindling (Alaskan Cedar). They also recently brought out a Scent Sampler, a set of the core collection in scented coasters so you can get an idea if you like the candles before investing. Out of the core 5, Canopy ranks high as my favorite (I’ve repurchased it twice), Rattan second, and Daybed for a fresh floral spring scent.
One thing I love about Otherland are the seasonal candle ranges they bring out. They bring out some during the Summer, Fall, and Winter. They’ve even had a collab with artist Amber Vittoria, and it’s seriously the most beautiful candle - in terms of both scent and design. Honestly I’ve been a hoarder with this candle and have burned it once for a short period of time and am truly trying to savor it for as long as I can. Maybe if they end up bringing this back again, I’ll have the courage to burn it with a second backup safely in my possession.
They recently brought out a 90’s themed trio - Dreamlight, Blue Jean Baby, and Glosspop. These scents sound incredible and I’m so tempted to pick them up!
Otherland offers a discount when you buy more candles. You can either order 1 candle for $36 or order a 3-pack for $89 (comes out to about $30 per candle). I’m glad that the “special” candles they bring out are still the same price as their core candles.
This post isn’t sponsored, I just truly love the brand and wanted to share one of my favorites!
