Current Skincare Shelfie | Summer 2023
It’s been a minute since I shared a corner of my medicine cabinet. Thought I’d run through some products that I have here on rotation.
Tatcha Indigo Overnight Repair | This has been my go to anytime I have a skin irritation. This one is a nice and thick cream that really helps repair my skin overnight. This also helps to strengthen your skin barrier and I often reach for this when I need a nice moisturizer after retinol in my routine. While this one is a bit costly, a little goes a long way and works wonders.
Tatcha The Clarifying Clay Mask | I love a good clay mask and this one is up there! I’ve seen mixed reviews online but I think it’s mostly customer misuse. Make sure when you use this one that you massage it in until the clay turns red. I do appreciate that my skin does not feel dried out after using it but makes my skin feel more even and smooth after.
Tatcha The Rice Polish Gentle | I will say that my days of abrasive face scrubs are long over - I’m more of a chemical exfoliant kinda gal rather than a physical exfoliant kinda gal. The only exception I’ll make are the Rice Polish products from Tatcha. These are always nice to use in the mornings when I’m feeling like my skin needs a little pick me up. It also helps lately during these warmer mornings when my skin is on the oilier side and needs a little balancing for the day ahead.
Glossier After Baume | This one was definitely a great reach during the colder months when my skin was dry and in need of extra help. It’s been a minute since I reached for this but I recently played pickle ball for the first time and my lack of reapplication resulted in my first sunburn in forever. I did reach for my Tatcha overnight repair at first but during the peeling phase, I needed that little extra regular help and reached for this one and it was great. This is also another great alternative to use following retinol.
Kat Burki C Intensive Face Cream | An important step for any anti-aging routine, this one is a lovely daily cream that can be used AM or PM. I usually reach for this the day after I use retinol. It’s not always a noticeable difference immediately after use, but consistency is key! This one also has a light scent which is very reminiscent in all Kat Burke products. If you know, you know.
REN Skincare Barrier Support Elixir | I always love a good oil product, especially for pairing with the gua sha step in my routine. I do appreciate that this one gives a nice glide but doesn’t leave my skin feeling overly oily or greasy. This one also helps to repair your skin barrier and also combats redness. I always wake up with my skin looking a lot more calm and even.
Merit Instant Glow Serum | This is unlike any other product I’ve used and is a bi-phase serum. This mixes two of my favorite ingredients, niacinamide and hyaluronic acid. A mixture to give you hydrated, calmed, and brightened skin.
Amore Pacific Essence | Essences are one of those steps that I sometimes skip but definitely notice make a huge difference with regular use. I find these make my skin a lot softer and my products just absorb a lot better into my skin.
Sunday Riley Luna | This was an old favorite and I decided to pick it up again recently. When my skin is angry, I usually find that this one helps calm it down and help things look a lot more even in tone.
Sunday Riley B Nice Serum | I often reach for niacinamide products when I’m trying to even out my skin tone or have some hyperpigmentation I’m trying to get rid of. I had a string of chin breakouts which left some pretty finicky scars behind. With regular use of this product, I saw them fade away quite fast.
Glossier Milky Oil | As an avid waterproof eye makeup user, I always rely on a good eye makeup remover. This one from Glossier has been my go-to for nearly four years now at this point and I’ve gone through multiple bottles. I love that this one really can remove it all and it doesn’t sting my eyes, leave my eyes cloudy, or leave a ton of oily residue behind. It’s all small enough that it’s not a pain to travel with. (I was gifted my first bottle but I’ve bought countless bottles after.)
Caudalie Moisturizing Fig Body Oil Elixir | Caudalie is one of my all time favorite brands and there’s isn’t much they can do to disappoint me. I’m awful at applying body care and often times don’t have the patience to rub in a cream - that’s why I gravitate towards a lot of body oils. While a pump can be convenient, I do appreciate a nice lightweight spray to evenly disperse around my body. Then I can put it down, massage it all in, and then wipe down my hands so I don’t leave grimy fingerprints everywhere.
