Bring It On, Spring
This past weekend in California it was a whopping 84 degrees and it was glorious. Spring is officially upon us, although with it some terrible allergies. The sun was shining and I thought it would be fun to play around with some Spring-themed makeup and bring on a fresh and dewy look. I whipped out my Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer in the color Bisque (which is described for light neutral complexions with balance of yellow and pink undertones). It is a great, lightweight base and gives a nice dewy finish. A sales associate at Sephora let me know that this formula was better for individuals with both oily and dry skin. To bring on an overall fresh complexion I thought I'd sweep on some MAC Mineralize Skinfinish and layer Benefit's Georgia powder. I didn't realize that Georgia had been discontinued (or moved to limited edition status), but it is a great finishing powder that adds a subtle touch of radiance and glow to your skin.
For eyes I curled my lashes with my Bobbi Brown eyelash curler and layered on some mascara. I've heard about the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara and thought I'd give it a go. I really like the wand and it grabs every lash. However, the formula itself is just ok - it isn't waterproof so my lashes did fall down soon after and were straight by the end of the day. (We'll see how this one holds up, it might be a no go.) Since my makeup was fairly light I wanted to pack a punch with some bolder brows. I used the Benefit's Gimme Brow to deepen my brows, and I used the Anastasia Brow Wiz to help clean up the edges and sharpen the arches.
On my nails I painted on the Revlon Color Gel Envy in Checkmate. It is a great neutral that does not make my skin look grey or dead. Neutral colors are always perfect all year round, and I really feel that a nude nail easily adds a fresh and polished look.
What are some of your makeup staples for Spring?
Cheers!
