MAC Lip Pencil Collection

Who doesn't love coloring? Lip liners are the best for keeping your lipstick in tack all day, whether they serve as a base for your lipsticks are an outliner for a perfectly lined lip. Now MAC has the widest range of colors, ever, so you're sure to find a shade to fit your needs.

One mistake I really made when I first started wearing lip products was thinking that any bold lipstick color needed a corresponding lip liner, boy was I wrong. For starters, you can always take a lip brush and line your lips with your actual lipstick. After that I started to go for lip pencils that could work with a variety of shades. I have 6 MAC pencils and well, I think it's just enough for me.

Soar: I know that everyone is still quite obsessed with the whole Kylie Jenner lip fad, and the main debate is between Soar and Whirl - and I personally picked up Soar. The sales associate let me know that it was best suited for Twig, which just happens to be my favorite MAC lipstick, so it seemed like a no brainer.
Pairings: MAC Twig, MAC Taupe, Bare Minerals Break Away

Beurre: This is a Cremestick Liner formula and it has a twist-up applicator. Now I love this particular lip pencil because it doesn't have a woody smell, and I don't have to sharpen it. This definitely has a creamier formula, as the name suggests, and it is comfortable on the lips. I love to use this as an all over lip color - it can be a tad drying so a quick layer of lip balm underneath is good enough. I've read that this is a great dupe for MAC Whirl (While writing this post I looked online only to discover that the Cremestick Liners have been discontinued - not sure why cause the formula of these were amazing.)
Pairings: Stila Patina

Cherry: When people think of red lip liners, many are instantly drawn to Cherry. It's the classic red lip liner, and one that every MAC sales associate will recommend. This was my first (ever!) lip liner, oh the nostalgia. I got this with Ladybug, which also happened to be my first MAC lipstick. The two don't exactly match, my how far I have come in 3 years. I'd say this lip liner is definitely for pairing with the darker reds.
Pairings: MAC Viva Glam I, NARS Cruella, Rimmel Kate Moss 107

Kiss Me Quick: This particular shade is part of the Pro Longwear line, which still requires sharpening, but is a much creamier consistency. Although slightly difficult to see in my swatch, this is definitely better suited for the brighter reds,  the ones that tend to be more blue-toned in color. I'm even able to get away with wearing this with my orange-red lipstick So Chaud, I just blend it in on the edges and it's good enough for me.
Pairings: MAC Ladybug, MAC So Chaud, MAC Ruby Woo, Stila Beso

Beet: Now I love me a good berry lipstick, and this is the perfect lip liner for all those needs. I bought this in particular to use with MAC Rebel, which I ended up exchanging for TopShop The Damned. I then saw, coincidentally, a post from VDM about using this as an all over lip color and I was sold. Why I never thought of using them as all over lip colors I will never know, good looking out Anna. This is great when I want my lipstick to stay in place all day, as you can lightly color in your lips to act as a primer.
Pairings: TopShop The Damned, NARS Damned, NARS Hyde Park

Burgundy: This is my holy grail lifesaver when it comes to dark vampy lips. Who can be bothered to fix a dark lip gone overboard? This helps me to draw in some boundaries before I go lipstick happy with some dark dark colors. Sometimes I like to do an ombre effect and will pair this with the Viva Glam I lipstick, I add a touch of black eyeshadow in the corners and you've got yourself the ultimate vampy lip - reserved for them wild nights in Vegas.
Pairings: MAC Media, Stila Amore, Charlotte Tilbury Glastonberry

L-R // Soar, Beurre, Cherry, Kiss Me Quick, Beet, Burgundy

I hope that this was helpful to some of you, let me know if you have any of these or if there are any I'm missing out on and need in my life.

Cheers!
