July / 2017 Half Year Goals
I've seen some goals posts going up lately and as we've passed the halfway point through 2017, I thought I'd join in on the fun. I thought I'd share a mixture of some goals that I had, some online and some personal.
Add more colors into my life. I picked up this gorgeous new Proenza PS1 Tiny baby (as a birthday treat to myself), and I am absolutely smitten with it. It's probably the bag I've been dreaming of since I was a teenager (well the medium size, but the tiny is so perfect) so this was a good decade in the making of wishful thinking. I had thought this color (saddle) was discontinued, and when I came across it for 50% off (yep, you read that right) - I bought it with zero hesitation. It's a good change from my typical black bag and I've been wanting to add some more color into my clothing life. Here's a link to the Tiny (only 2 colors left) and the Medium if that suits your size preference more. [These two aren't affiliate links btw!]
I tried to pick up some fun floral dresses from Lulu's but to my dismay - nothing fit. I'm part of the IBTC but surprisingly these were a little too busty on me (didn't think that was possible). I'm trying to make one of them work cause I'm just too smitten with the piece - gonna work out like crazy before the event I have to attend. I've seen some cute things from Zara and TopShop so I'll probably be sifting through there for options. If you have any suggestions - send them all my way!
Organize my life - both online and IRL. A while back I did a post on organizing your online day-to-day life here - and I for one need to follow my own tips. I've let life take over the last 4ish months and it's time to catch up. My emails and photos have gone overboard and my digital life just feels messy and cluttered - I'm long overdue for a night in of pure online organization. IRL, my room has been something just shy of a sh*t show, and it's finally starting to look put back together. Spending maybe 2 hours or less of waking hours in my room, I kinda (really) let things get out of hand. I had a nice long 4-day weekend for July 4th and I did a long haul of organizing and cleaning things out. We're talking 2 large bags of recycled papers/random trash, and boxes on boxes of packages sent/ordered. I'm on a good roll and I just gotta keep going.
Keep it up with using products up. I love empties posts and can honestly spend so much time reading through empties posts of some sort. I for one love the feeling of using something up, and I actually think I have quite a good number of products that are at the end of their lifespan. Forcing myself to use these up before opening new things has been challenging, but there's nothing much more rewarding! I'm pretty sure I've said this before, but I'm focused on doing a capsule skincare collection of some sort that limits me to use certain products in an effort to use them up faster! If this actually (successfully) happens, I'll be sure to let you guys know what I chose and just how much of it I successfully finished. :) // I'm also a sample hoarder and having done a big sample use up a few months back, I'm long overdue for another one! While I don't want to put my face through the horrors of testing a ton of new products in a short period of time, I do want to be better about using some every so often. Especially sheet masks - I store those in my room and tend to forget about them (oops).
Healthy mindfulness. I want to be more mindful about living a healthier lifestyle. I'll be the first to admit that it is not something that comes naturally to me - fast food is my weakness and something I guiltily indulge on at least once a week (if not more - oops again). My bf and I were pretty good about going to a workout class twice a week for six+ months, but we recently decided it was too expensive and when our favorite instructor left we decided to part ways. We're back from our vacation and have gotten gym memberships - a new one for me and a renewal for him. We're making more of an effort to go multiple times a week in addition to trying to cook and eat more healthily.
In addition to that, I was kindly sent a subscription of Care/of vitamins* which I waited until the beginning of July to start taking. When you enter their website you're directed to take a quiz on the goals you're trying to achieve by taking these vitamins. Based off my quiz, I was recommended a few products. I read through the additional vitamins they offered and decided to pick up one extra - and as you can see above I have 6 pills to take on the daily. I think I did go slightly overboard as it's kind of a pain to take all of these each day. I'm going to wait until the end of the month to say my thoughts, but combined with working out and eating healthier, my body has been feeling pretty great. These are individually packed which makes it easy to take with you on the go. It also comes in a nice box so it'll sit nicely on your counter in plain site. Try out 2 weeks of Care/of for free using the code 'TWOFORYOU' to score 50% off your first month.
In addition to being healthier, I'm *trying* my best to drink more water - especially with it being summer and all. I was kindly sent some BKR Glass Water Bottles* a few months back (again - sorry on the lag of posts), and I have been loving using it! I have the 500mL size and it's the perfect size for carrying around with you on the daily: to work, to the gym, and just to carry in your bag. It's a small enough size to be carried in a medium/large bag, and the lid allows you to clip off your purse strap (If yours allows for that) and to loop it through and carry that way. I was also gifted the large 1L size which they recommended to leave at your desk so you don't have to get up as often. I tend to like getting up and walking around the office as I tend to sit for far too long, so the smaller size works best for me.
Be better about saving money. My boyfriend and I are trying to be a house and we've been feeling a bit down about how crazy the housing prices are in the Bay Area. Renting of course is an option, but it's not necessarily a financially smart choice. (Especially when rent costs are just shy of being the same as a home mortgage - w t f Bay Area.) Coming back from my trip to Asia and doing a little splurge on my PS1 bag, I haven't been so great about saving a lot of money. Trying to change that and hopefully pairing with my goal to use up more products, I'll be successful in this! *fingers crossed*
Catch up with blogging and photography. I have sooo many posts to catch up on so I'm hoping I can be good about keeping to my schedule. The goal would be to get ahead of schedule so I have posts scheduled in advance - even just 2 or 3 queued up would be great when life gets busy. I also have a ton of photos to upload from previous trips - AKA my UK trip last May (lol) and my Asia trip from just recently. I also attempted to vlog so we'll see if we can figure out a way to edit that and get that posted somehow :) And I'm working on my Life Lately catch up post for what's been going on for the past 4 months along with a post on my new (but now not so new) pup Ollie!
What are some of your goals that you have for the upcoming month and/or rest of the year? :)
