I am very fortunate to be able to partner with so many incredible brands, and today’s brand focus is Supergoop! One thing I would go back and tell my younger self to be more diligent about using is sunscreen. I grew up swimming and spent many sunny days in a pool with very minimal SPF protection. I did start regularly using SPF my senior year in college and have been diligent in doing so ever since.
No, SPF in your makeup is not sufficient. And no, staying indoors all day is also not an excuse not to apply. If you’re sitting by a window or sunlight comes in, apply that SPF baby.
Over the last year+ that I have partnered with Supergoop! as part of their Sunshine Crew, I have been kindly sent so many products to try. I thought I’d do a quick rundown of some of the products I’ve tried and my quick fire thoughts on them:
Every.Single.Face. Watery Lotion: Hands down this is my favorite product from the brand. It’s similar to a lot of the Asian brand sunscreens I love and this one is no different. This is very comfortable on the skin, leaves a very dewy finish, and does not feel heavy on the skin. I’ve gone through multiple bottles and currently have this one in rotation.
Glowscreen: I love reaching for this one when I’m having a no makeup day. This gives a very healthy lit from within glow. This has an ever so slightly dewy finish and doesn’t have an overly matte finish. I know this one hasn’t been a hit for everyone as it does show up very shimmery on certain skin tones - I definitely recommend getting a swatch of this before you commit. I also saw that they have brought out some new shades so check those out to see if one works for you! (There’s also a Glowscreen Body version which I haven’t cracked open but am planning to this upcoming summer / for some upcoming outdoor weddings I’ll be attending!)
Superscreen Daily Moisturizer: It’s been a while since I last used this one, I was trying a bunch at the time and I think I gave this one to my cousin since she said she was looking to try it. I have a new jar so I need to give it another try soon! But this is a nice two in one product if you’re trying to ease yourself into regularly wearing SPF in your day to day routine.
PLAY Antioxidant Body Mist: Perfect for quick application before some time in the sun! It doesn’t leave a sticky feeling on your skin and just has a regular old sunscreen scent - no extra frutiy/sweet notes added.
PLAY Everyday Lotion: I like to reach for this one for my body and appreciate that this comes in varying sizes (it even comes in a large bottle with a pump if you have a family that needs protection). This can be used on your face too but I tend to find this one a bit heavier for my preference.
Glow Stick: This one would be a bit much for all over use but it’s nice for touch ups on the tops of your cheeks for a little extra “glow”. It’s also great for touch ups over any visible body tattoos that need some extra protection in the sun.
Glow Oil: I like to reach for this one when I’m on vacation and near water. This is more of a dry oil so it doesn’t leave you feeling like a greaseball and adds a very nice and healthy glow over your body.
Daily Dose Hydra-Ceramide Boost + SPF 40 Oil: This is a nice light oil that gives a little boost of ceramides as well as some SPF protection. This is a nice option that I reach for when I want to do a little gua sha routine in the AM.
PLAY Mineral Stick: I picked this one up right before I went to Hawaii last year and this was great to chuck into my belt bag for easy reapplication throughout the day. My husband also is not the best at reapplying but he tolerated me giving a few little swipes of this on the high points of his face that really needed extra protection in the harsh Hawaiian sun.
PLAY Lip Balm (Acai): I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reaching for this one and love how hydrating this one feels. The açaí scent helps cut the SPF “scent” that generally comes with SPF lip balms. This has a squeeze tube which I feel doesn’t get as gross as the twist up balms. If you’re in need of a lip balm with som added protection, I would recommend picking this up.
