New In: Summer Nail Picks
My wardrobe consists of 5 set standard colors: white, grey, black, and the occasional pops of blue and army green. My daily uniform, to say the least, is easy peasy and I hardly ever struggle with getting dressed in the morning. Having a neutral wardrobe also allows me to go as crazy as I want with accessories: shoes, bags, and lip/nail colors to add a fun pop of pattern and color. Typically my nails are either au natural or rocking a nude or almost-black varnish. But as of late, for some strange reason, I've really been lusting for some bright nail picks. I was killing time in Ulta earlier this week (per usual), and decided to pick up two bright Essie polishes to get me through Summer.
The one that I instantly went home and put on my nails is Splash of Grenadine. I was skimming the rows of Essie polishes and this one caught my eye, when I flipped it for the name I instantly thought of Estee (Essie Button) and understood why she rocks it on her nails constantly. It is such a beautiful color! It's a lilac-y pink with hints of a blue undertone, it's very cool toned and looks lovely on my nails. Secondly - this stuff applies like a dream, the application was so smooth and it's been almost 3 days and there are z e r o chips (#winning). This one is a keeper.
The other one I picked up is Cute as a Button, which is described as a coral/persimmon pink. Ever since I got a pedicure in high school, I've been on the search for a coral pink nail varnish. I was silly not to look at the name of the polish, and have since never been able to find it again. This shade looked all too similar, and as soon as Splash of Grenadine is ready to come off, this is going right on. I also think this will look great on my toes once I have a nice Summer tan added in!
One thing I recently picked up (for free - thanks to my Ulta points!) was the Essie Apricot Oil. This stuff actually is the most amazing smelling thing, it's such a treat and I've pretty much applied this to my nails every night in hopes of saving my dreadfully dry cuticles. I've been using this for a little over a week and I can see that this stuff will last me a long time. I haven't even made a visible dent in the bottle, and I noticed that my cuticles have been getting softer and smoother. I couldn't ask for more! If you have dry cuticles I 100% recommend this stuff.
