Try Before You Buy | Skincare on Trial

Perhaps it's in combo with the lack of wearing makeup in the past months, but my skin has been extremely happy lately. I've been trial-ing a few skincare bits, mostly free samples, and have been loving them.

With Target finally stocking up on the travel sized Pixi Glow Tonic, I was finally able to test out this very hyped little thing. I use this maybe 3 times a week at night with a simple cotton round. One thing I definitely appreciate is the gentle nature of this product, it doesn't leave my skin with that burning dried out feeling that some toners do, but instead with a refreshed feeling. Paired with my beloved Luna Sleeping Oil, I've been waking up with my skin feeling and looking brighter.

Once a week I've been testing out the Origins Rose Clay Mask, this is an interesting mask that is unlike any other that I've used. It's a thick consistency with exfoliating beads - it is quite the satisfying feeling massaging it in. The one problem I have with this particular product is getting it off - this stuff is pretty difficult to get off and I don't particularly love scrubbing it off. I do have to be careful not to use this too often, as I think it may be too strong for my sensitive skin.

Free gifts are my favorite, and when I purchased the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow I was given a free gift (woo!). The free gift included a miniature size of Charlotte's Magic Cream. This cream is supposed to treat and transform your skin while moisturizing. It has a light scent and is a thick cream, but it doesn't feel heavy or uncomfortable on my skin. I feel as though this paired with the Pixi Glow Tonic are the two main additions to my skincare routine that have contributed to my improved skin tone. I'm about 1/4 of the way through with this and I fear that I'll cave and splurge on the full-size once it runs out.

Last up is The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil. I previously used the Kate Somerville EradiKate Acne Treatment, and it was just a bit too difficult to work with. One particular thing was that it would rub off onto my pillowcase at night, and with white sheets now I wasn't about to let that happen. A few months ago I got the monster of all chin pimples and nothing I did was helping to get rid of it. I was strolling through Ulta and came across this little bottle and thought I'd give it a go. Within 2 days the redness, swelling, and pain of the zit decreased significantly and I was sold. It's gentle and gives that tingly feeling which helps you know it's working. This is also great since I can wear it during the day and apply makeup over it. When I feel a zit coming on I'll pop some of this on and you can bet that it keeps them at bay.

What are some new additions to your skincare routine? Have you tried any of these products?
